Faculty of Tajweed
Wissam El- Tom has a Master's degree in Islamic Studies from Makasid University in Lebanon, in addition to his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
He has the highest certificates in Qur'an Qiraa'at (all 10 ways of reading Qur'an in original Arabic language with melodies and phonetics) and Quran studies from the Institute of Qur’an Qiraa’at at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif in Egypt. He has the "Sanad" (ijazah) -linked to the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wasallam- in ten Qiraa'at sugra and kubra from the leading scholars in Egypt of this field internationally. He was the winner of the International Quran Recitation and Memorization Competition held amongst 125 countries which was organized by Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the Awkaf Ministry in Egypt.
He has authored many books in the ten Qiraa’at of Quran, and has also composed a poem in the original Arabic language comprising of 1175 verses on an area of Quranic studies. He speaks three languages - English, French and Arabic.
Wissam El- Tom lives in Montreal, Canada where he has been an Imaam for several mosques and is the director of Attibyan Institute for ten Qiraa’at and Quran studies. He is also working towards gaining a Ph.D in Islamic Studies.
Ahmad Abdel-Wahab has a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Maryland. In 2005, he was accepted into the Islamic University of Madeenah, and began his B.A in the College of Islamic Law.
He memorized the Qur'an whilst in America, with Tajweed and mastery under the guidance of his noble teacher, Shaykh Muhammad al-Raaee. He studied the Qur’an and the classical texts in the masjids from the scholars of Madeenah, and received an Ijaaza in Qur'an and Tajweed from his noble teacher, Shaykh Salaah Shabaana- a teacher of Qur'an in the Prophet's Masjid. He studied the book 'Umdat al-Fiqh by Ibn Qudaama under the guidance of his noble teacher, Shaykh Abdul-Khaliq Naaqru- one of the major students of Shaykh Muhammad ibn Muhammad al-Mukhtaar ash-Shanqeetee.
Currently Ahmad Abdel-Wahab teaches Qur'an and Tajweed in the Prophet's Masjid in Madeenah. He also teaches Fiqh classes to students in Saudi Arabia and the United States.
Sr. Ghada received her BA from the Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt. She is a certified tajweed and qaida noorania teacher. She has obtained her ijazah in riwayah Hafs’An’Aasim, Shu’ba’an Asim and ijazah from sheikh Al-M’sarawe riwayah Hanfs’An’Assim. Sr. Ghada held several tajweed teaching positions.
Sr. Nourulhoda holds a BA from Cairo University and Intonation certificate from Al Azhar Al Sharif. She attained various ijazahs such as two ijazahs in Asem Qera’ah: Sho’bah, Hafs and both from Ash-Shaatibiyyah Tariq; three ijazahs in Qur’an recitation as narrated by Hafs from Asem from Ash-Shaatibiyyah Tariq; and ijazah in Qur’an recitation as narrated by Hafas from Teebat Alnashr route (including its 21 routes). Currently, she seeks an ijazah in the ten Qera’at from Ash-Shaatibiyyah and Ad-Dorah route. Sr. Nourulhoda also holds ijazahs in certain mutun (texts) of tajweed and qeera'at: two ijazahs in Aljazreya text; ijazah in Tuhfat-ul-Atfaal text; ijazah in the text of Talkhees Sareeh Alnas Fi Alkalemat Almukhtalaf Fiha ‘An Hafs” from Teebat Alnashr route. Sr. Nourulhoda holds several teaching positions.
Sr. Alkawthar holds a BA in Islamic studies, and an ijaza in Asim. She is currently pursuing reading Hafs from Attayyebah way. Sr. Alkawthar taught at the Women's Institute of Moderation, at Sebwih center; and Qortobah, 'Aalim and Madina Arabic centers.
Sr. Amal holds a BA in English language, literature and translation from the faculty of human studies, department of English, Al-Azhar University. She has a certification to teach recitation from Al-Azhar Shubr-al-Khema Institute, Cairo, Egypt. She received an ijaza from Um-Abdussalam-khadija bint Saad, a student of Sheikh Az-Zayyat in Egypt, Cairo; and from Sheikh Saad Hasaneen from Alexandria, residing in the United States, Texas, Dallas. Sr. Amal held various Qur'an teaching positions in Egypt and the United States.
Sr. Rehab memorized the Qur'an in a very tender age. She received an ijaza in reading Hafs and Shoabah from Asim, and in tajweed Jazriah and Tuhfatulatfal. She has a licence to prepare students to become teachers. Sr. Rehab teaches Qur'an and Arabic since 2004.
Sr. Nahla obtained her BA, pre-master diploma and preparation of a MA from the Al Azhar University. She completed a course for the memorization of the whole Qur'an under the supervision of Shaiqha / Fatemah al Sheiqh, and the Qur'an Teachers' Preparation course. She teaches the Qur'an, tajweed, memorizing, and rules of classical Arabic.
Br. Sameh Lotfy obtained his BA from the University of Al Azhar. He memorized the Qur‘an along with the rules of recitation by the age of 8. He was an imam of masjids in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. He was a teacher of the Qur‘an and tajweed rules. He participated in the first stage of the Competition of Laylat Al Qadr, the Competition of the Grand Imam of Al Azhar and in the advanced stage of the National Competition of Egypt. Br. Sameh currently works as a web publishing responsible and as a teaching assistant of the Holy Qur‘an and His Science at the University of Al Azhar Al Shareef, Faculty of Islamic Sciences for International Students, eLearning Program.
Imam Raslan memorized the whole Qur’an at the age of 12. He holds an ijaza in both Hafs and Sho‘bahriwayah with isnaad to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. He has a BA in Islamic studies in English from Al-Azhar University, faculty of languages and translation Islamic studies department. He also has an MA in the field of scientific interpretation of the Glorious Qur'an from the same department.
He is an imam and preacher in the Egyptian Ministry of Islamic Endowments. He leads prayers, gives speeches and Jumu‘ah khutbas continuously. He was nominated by the U.S. Consulate General Alexandria and selected by the Department of State to participate in the international visitor leadership program, interfaith dialogue.
Imam Raslan teaches tajweed, Qur’an and Arabic “in English” for several years now, and tens of students graduate at his hands every year.
Md. Hossain successfully memorized the noble Qur’an at a very tender age. He attended an international competition for the huffaz in Egypt as a representative of Bangladesh in 1994 and in 1998.
Md. Hossain passed his Dakhil examination from Tahfizul Quranil Karim Fajil degree Madrasa in 2001 and his Alim examination from the same madrasa in 2003.
He received his ijaza in Hafs from Masjid Nabawi in Madina Munawwarah.
Md. Hossain graduated in Islamic Studies from the Islamic University of Madinah Al-Munawwarah in Madinah in 2010-11, and completed his MA in the same subject from the Bangladesh Islamic University in 2012-13.
While in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, he worked as a teacher of noble Qur’an at the Masjid Nabawi from 20 April 2008 to 24 May 2011.â€‹
Mohammed Abdullah Mahmoud El Tahwawy has completed his BA of Education from the Al Menoufia University. He holds an ijaza in Hafs an Aasim.
He worked as a manager of Iqraa Center for teaching Arabic and Holy Qur'an for Non - Arabic speakers and as a manager of Teachers' Holy Qur'an Institute affiliated to Al azhar Al Sharif in 6th October City.
As a Qur’an and tajweed teacher he worked in several institutions including Teachers' Holy Qur’an Institute affiliated to Al azhar Al Sharif, and Zahret Al Madan Private School and Dar Al Suliman for Holy Qur'an. Mohammed Abdullah Mahmoud El Tahwawy also worked as an Arabic teacher in Um Al Mu'mineen Private School and Al Radwa Private School.
Sara Khazbak completed her BA in Computer Science from the Cairo University. She memorized Qur’an at the age of 14. She received an ijazah in Hafs an Aasim from Al Shatibiyyah and some ways of Tayeba from Om Abd El Salam (Khadiga bint Saad AnSheikh Ahmed FlZayat) with a chain connected to Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him) in 2009.
She obtained an ijaza in Hafs an Aasim from the Azhar Institue of Qeraat, and she also has an ijaza in Riwaayah Nafee (Kaloon and Warsh from Al Shatibiyyah way). She is currently pursuing the 10 Qeraat from Al Tayeba way.
Sister Sara Khazbak received her Qur’an teacher certificate from Masjid Al Fat’h from Om Abd Elsalam in 2008. She completed a 5 year course in Tajweed and Motashabehat Al Qur'an from Dar Ibn Mas'ood (Azhar institute) and received an ijazah from it. She also took various short Islamic courses in hadith, tawheed, fiqh, tafsir and aqeeda.
Currently she is teaching Qur’an in Masjid Al Fat'h and in Dar Ibn Mas'ood (memorization with its Motashabehat and Tajweed).
Ibrahim Nashat Ahmed is an Egyptian and is currently pursuing his 4th year as a Pharmacy student at Misr International University. He graduated from the schools of the Azhar and memorized the Noble Quran 4 years ago. He has also been serving as an Imam, in Taraweeh prayers and Tahajjud prayers, for 4 years. He was assigned as Imam of the al-Tawheed Mosque for Fajr prayers recently and has served as the imam of the Al-Hedaya mosque for Fajr prayer for the past 2 years. He has also participated the in Al-Arqam Quran Competition and he is working on
al-ijaza with Shaykh Awl.
Mariam Fathi is an Egyptian, born and brought up in Makkah. She finished her Bachelors of Arts at Ain Shams University in the year 2006.
In 2003, she completed the Quran Teacher Preparation course at Al_fatth mosque and in 2006, she finished her first Ijazah under the supervision of Ustadah Aisha Abd el raheem, to Hafs An Aasim.
In 2009, she received the Al Azhar Tajweed Certification for the recitation in the way of Hafs an Aasim at the Girls Institute of Quran in Shoubra. She finished studying at Al-Fadellah Institute for religious studies in Nasr City and served as a Quran teacher at the Dar Al-Emaan mosque, Al-Fatth mosque, Hafsa mosque and Fajr Center for teaching Quran to non-Arabic speakers.
In 2010, she finished her second Ijazah for Hafs under the supervision of Sheikha Khadeeja who is known as Umm Ab el-salam. In 2011, she finished her Ijazah for Warsh recitation with the noble teacher Maha Bahy El-Deen and in 2012, she completed the Ijazah for Ibn Katheer recitation.
These days Maria Fathi is reciting under the guidance of Ustada Maha Bahy, Al kesaiy and Kalaf Al Asher
Mariam Nashat Ahmed is an Egyptian and has done her Bachelor of Science through Ain Shams University, Cairo. She attended the summer school (1993 to 1998) at Dar Al-Eman for teaching Quran in Nasr city, Cairo, Egypt. She completed the Quran Teacher Preparation Course (2008) at Al-fatth Mosque in Heliopolis, Cairo, Egypt. She also received the Al Azhar Tajweed Certification (2006) for the recitation in the way of Hafs ‘an ‘Asim at The Azharic Institute of Qeraat in Shobra, Cairo, Egypt. She served as the summer (1999/2000) Quran teacher at Dar Aleman mosque for teaching Quran located in Nasr city, Cairo, Egypt. In the academic year (2004-2005) she served as the Quran teacher for the kindergarten class at the Ajyad Azhary School, located in Maadi, Cairo, Egypt. She also served as a Quran teacher for kindergarten and grade one, in Jana Dan Islamic International School, located in Maadi, Cairo, Egypt, during the academic year (2005-2006). She was also the Quran, religion and also the fun science Nursery teacher for kids from 2 to 4 years at Sesame Club Nursery located in Maadi, Cairo, Egypt, during the academic year (2010-2011). She is fluent in both Arabic and English. She is a very patient person, and has excellent interactive skills with students especially kids and has a highly social character with good communication skills.
Mohammed Bechir holds a master's degree in Finance from Tunisia. He has completed his bachelor's degree in administration. He further holds a certification in general accounting. He has received Qur'aan ijaaza from Sheikh Wissam el Tom and an ijaaza in Hadeeth from Sheikh Waleed el Manissi. He is the co-founder and accounting partner in comptabilite et confiance b.m.
Mohammed Irfan Khan was born in Kuwait, is an Electrical and Electronics Engineer by profession. He is working as a Technical Manager at a prominent Da'wah organisation named "Peace Propagation Center " (PPC) in Hyderabad,India.
He completed the Bachelors of Technology in (E.E.E.) Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University. He has obtained a Diploma in Islamic Studies(Aqeedah) (DIS) under Sheikh Hussain Madani, from Peace Propagation Center, Hyderabad, India.
He has also completed Hifz-ul-Qur'an from Jami'at-ul-khairiyah, Jeddah, KSA. He is a certified Tajweed & Hifz-ul-Qur'an Trainer (Daurat-ul-Muallimeen) from Jami'at-ul-khairiyah, Jeddah, KSA .
He has also completed a short Arabic course under Sheikh Arshad Basheer Madani. He has completed a Da'wah Training under M.I.Ali, the president of Peace Propagation Center and has also gone through a short Da'wah camp under the guidance of Sheikh Arshad Basheer Madani.
He has learned to actively administer Da'wah events and has conducted them in various parts of India. He is also active in online Da'wah campaigns, run by the Peace Propagation Center (PPC). He has the ability to develop and present educational programs and workshops as well.
Imam Mostafa Nabwy received his BA from the Al Azhar University. He holds a certification from Al Azhar University and Al Azhar Institute; a Diploma Takhsos al Qeraat al Ashr al Kobra (modes of recitation of the Qur’an) (Warsh-Hamza-Ibn Katheer, etc.); and a Diploma Alyet al Qeraat al Ashr al Soghra (modes of recitation of the Qur’an) from Al Azhar Institute. He received his ijazah from Sheikh Ahmad el Masawawy. Imam Mostafa completed the Star Talk Teacher Training program for teaching Arabic, New York University. He worked as an Arabic and Islamic studies Instructor at VAHS academy, PA, USA; as an Imam of the Foundation for Islamic Studies, PA, USA; and as an Imam of the Islamic Association of Raleigh, NC, USA. He taught at the Department of the Islamic Studies at the World Islamic and Sciences Education (WISE), University of Jordan. Imam Mostafa also served as an Imam for many mosques in Egypt and Jordan.
Taskeen Abdul-Rawoof is from Toronto, Canada. She has studied under Sh. Uthman Khan at the Shatibiyyah Institute for Tajweed and Qira’at where she obtained her Ijazah in the recitation of Hafs an Asim. She has also studied Asharah Sugharah and is currently working on completing the memorization of the Quran. Currently, she is studying at York University in an Honours History and Concurrent Education program.
Tehseen Fatima is a Pakistani and British National who earned her master's in Environmental Sciences and Research work in Biochemistry from Fatima Jinnah Women's University, Rawalpindi, Pakistan. She has completed Islamic Courses including Translation and Tafseer of the Holy Qur'an, and a Hadeeth Course of Sahih Bukhari from Alhuda International. She also learned Tajweed from Skeikh Uthman Khan at Shatbiyyah Institute, in Canada and taught Tajweed at different levels at the Alhuda Institute in Canada and Pakistan, Sr. Tehseenis currently conducting Tajweed courses in a variety of cities. She is also a student of Ashrah Qira'at.

Um Khadeegah is an Egyptian pharmacist who graduated from Cairo University in 2002 and then obtained a clinical diploma from Ein-Shams University .She also passed ICDL, preparatory TOEFL courses and many other courses in QA, GMP and statistical analysis. She started studying Tajweed at the Arrahmah center for the Noble Quran memorization with Tajweed in Cairo in the year 2003 and completed it in 2005 with the theoretical Tajweed courses in this period. She then went to the Khatemah level and finished the memorization at the year 2008 and started teaching Quran and Tajweed rules at Quran Center for Arab and non-Arab students in KSA. She also passed the Alqayedah Annouraneyah and has taught non-Arabs since then in Ijazah
Umm Eesa has been studying the Qur'an under a number of teachers and shuyookh from an early age. She is a hafidha and also holds an Ijaazah in 'Ashara Sughra (ten Qiraa'aat) and a separate one in Hafs 'an 'Asim min Tareeq Al-Shatibiyyah. She teaches Tajweed and Hifdh both online and in her locality. She is currently conducting the general open sessions for brothers and sisters online at IOU
Sister Umm Rukhaiya has a bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences. She had ijazaa in hafs an aasem reading with a chain connected to Prophet Mohammed (SAW). She is now a student at the Pathway Institute in Islamic Diploma for Dawaa. She is also enrolled in Khatma of kaloon an nafi reading, shouba an aasem reading, and warsh an nafi reading.
Zahra Anwer was brought up in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. After completing her bachelor's in Commerce, she joined Dar Al Huda Qur'an School for Tajweed and was blessed to study with the wonderful teachers there. She studied tajweed under the supervision of Sheikhah Kareema Carol Czerepinski [the author of a series of the three books called 'Tajweed Rules of the Qur'an.]. She completed her four years there and got an ijazah. She also completed short courses of- tawheed,tafseer and fiqh us sunnah. She was blessed to study tafseer and basic fiqh with Umm Muhammad [the author and translator of Saheeh International Publications], and other amazing sisters at the Islamic Cultural Center in Jeddah.
