'Aqeedah: Islamic Creed

This module is comprised of a study of the fundamental issues in the science of Tawheed (monotheism) and Aqeedah (creed). It gives an overview of the categories of Tawheed and Shirk (polytheism).
This module focuses upon the third category of Tawheed: Tawheed al-Asmaa was-Sifaat, the significance of belief in revelation, understanding belief in dDestiny, signs of the Last Day and the Day of Resurrection, status of the Prophet’s companions, obedience to rulers, and abandonment of deviants.
This module focuses upon complementing Aqeedah topics covered in the first two semesters, and draws on classical works on Islamic creed from the 9th century.

This module provides students with an insightful and accessible introduction to the histories, beliefs and practices of major world religions from pre-historic times to 21st century developments, so that Islamic Studies graduates will have a better understanding of the beliefs of other faiths
This module provides students with an insightful and accessible introduction to the histories, beliefs and practices of Abrahamic Faiths - Judaism and Christianity, so that Islamic Studies graduates will have a better understanding of these religions.
This module focuses on the second pillar of Imaan (belief) and gives students clear knowledge of the correct Aqeedah on issues related to angels, Jinn, the devil, and the human soul.



Arabic Language

The purpose of this module is to introduce students to Arabic used in everyday contexts, with exposure to Arabic grammar rules and vocabulary.
This module focuses completely on the major nominal grammatical constructions mixed with daily expressions. Its lessons are taught using English as the medium of instruction, in order to give the student a basic understanding of Arabic grammar from an English grammatical perspective.
The purpose of this module is to provide students with basic grammatical constructions through the study of Arabic conversations. It also guides students to use Arabic dictionaries effectively

Da'wah and Islamic Culture

The purpose of this module is to teach students about the importance of da’wah and the characteristics that a da’i should possess. It further elaborates on preparing the dai’s mindset. 




Education

The purpose of this module is to provide a correct understanding of the etiquettes of seeking knowledge, as well as the importance of gaining authentic knowledge, and give the necessary skills and attitude to pursue Islamic knowledge properly.

Through this module the student teachers will be enabled to be acquainted with the meaning, need and importance of Islamic Studies. This helps to familiarize them with aims and objectives of teaching Islamic Studies. It acquaints teacher trainees with the methods and techniques of teaching Islamic Studies, the importance and format of lesson planning, the importance and use of Teaching Aids, the process of curriculum development and the process of evaluation used in the discipline.



English Grammar, Composition & Lit

This module aims to develop needed academic literacies and familiarity with English communication skills. Students will be taught relevant academic literacy strategies and English language principles. The module aims to develop strengthened competency in English writing.



Fiqh and Usool Al-Fiqh

This module is comprised of a study of the fundamental issues related to the evolution of Fiqh (jurisprudence)

The module aims to introduce students to the Shariah (Islamic Law) understanding of trade transactions
The module aims to introduce students to principles of Islamic Family Law through the study of marriage and divorce laws in Islam

The module aims to introduce students to the principles of Islamic Law and Islamic legal theory

The module aims to equip students with basic knowledge, competencies and skills to recognize the role of the Islamic Law of Succession in everyday life.

The module aims to introduce students to general principles of Islamic criminal law as well as the Islamic criminal justice system.

The module aims to introduce students to the Islamic Legal Maxims. The module aims to expose students to:
  • The history, character and significance of Islamic legal maxims.
  • The legal maxims of Islamic law and the various subsidiary as well as comprehensive maxims 
  • Fundamental principles and applications of Islamic law.



History

The purpose of this module is to study and explore the life of the four Rightly Guided Caliphs of Islam and the early Islamic history.

The purpose of this module is to help students study and learn about a significant part of the Islamic history, starting from the Umayyad period till the Ottoman Empire.




Information Technology

The focus of this module is on a breadth-first coverage of Computer Science and Information Technology disciplines, introducing computing environments, general application software, basic computing hardware, operating systems, desktop publishing, Internet, software applications and tools and computer usage concepts; introducing Computer Science, Software engineering, and Information technology within the broader domain of Computing, and social issues of computing.



Seerah Nabawiyyah

The purpose of this module is to focus on a biographical and chronological study of the life, traditions, practices and thought of Prophet Muhammad PBUH.
The purpose of this module is to continue the study of the life, traditions, practices and thought of Prophet Muhammad PBUH, focusing on the Madeenan period. 



Sunnah and 'Uloomul-Hadeeth

The purpose of this module is to study and explore the methodology used by Hadeeth (Prophet narrations) scholars.
The purpose of this module is to study selected authentic Hadeeth dealing with the virtues of actions.

 

 

The purpose of this module is to study and explore the Forty Hadeeth of Imam Al Nawawi , which is considered the foundational text for Hadeeth Studies classically

 

 




Tafseer and 'Uloom Al-Qur'an

The purpose of this module is to study and explore the Fundamentals of the Sciences of Quran.
This module presents a detailed study of the Ya-seen chapter of the Quran.
